We believe natural gas will play an important part in Europe’s energy mix in the years to come. This is why our mission is Bringing Energy to Europe.
Bringing Energy to Europe
Europe depends on imports of energy. Oil and gas are the most important energy carriers and constitute almost 60% of the energy mix in Germany. Our shareholding companies provide industry and end users with energy.
Based on an environmental approach they are heavily involved renewable energy and gas. They aim to feed enough green electricity into the European grid to meet the needs of business and private customers in Munich by 2025 at the latest, becoming the world's first city of more than a million inhabitants to achieve this.
The shareholders have a long term perspective on their investments in the upstream business. Bayerngas believes gas will be a vital part of the energy mix also in the long term perspective substituting for sun and wind when nature prevents production from these sources.
The mission of Bayerngas Norge is to provide our shareholders with natural gas, in line with their long-term strategy. Bringing Energy to Europe is thus important both from an energy security perspective and in an environmental perspective.
As the cleanest of fossil fuels, natural gas reduces Europe’s dependence on coal. If Europe were to replace coal with natural gas, the EU would achieve better than its goal of a 20% CO2 reduction by 2020.
The energy mix in Europe is undergoing major changes with greater dependence on renewable energy combined with the decision in Germany to phase out nuclear plants.
We believe natural gas will play a big part in Europe’s energy mix in the years to come. That is why our mission is Bringing Energy to Europe.
