Bayerngas Norge is a main sponsor for the excavation of fossil skeeltal remains at Svalbard. The last excavation so far took place in 2014 and now substantial preservation remains.
Headed by professor Jørn Hurum, at the Natural History Museum in Oslo, a group of enthusiasts has since 2004 excavated fossil remains around the Knorring Mountain at Svalbard. Their achievements are remarkable and they have received attention from all around the world. As a result professor Hurum himself received the award as "Emerging Explorer" by National Geographic in 2011.
The detailed and time consuming task of preservation now remains. Bayerngas decided in 2014 to continue the sponsorhip of professor Hurum and the excavations. Professor Hurum gives life to the period when the oil and gas we explore for was generated.
