Ivar Aasen first oil

Bayerngas Norge as partner in the Ivar Aasen field development project is pleased to be informed that production successfully started at 09:16 on the 24th of December 2016.

Ivar Aasen was discovered in the spring 2008, the PDO was delivered late 2012 and today oil production started.

Bayerngas Norge would like to thank our partners, vendors and Aker BP for the contribution over many years.

The performance of AkerBP is a great achievement.


The Ivar Aasen license is operated by Aker BP 34,78%, with Statoil 41,47%, BGN 12,32%, Wintershall 6,46%, VNG 3,02%, Lundin 1,38% and OMV 0,55% as partners. The Ivar Aasen platform is a partial processing platform with well-bay and living quarters. The well-stream will be transported from the Ivar Aasen platform to the Edvard Grieg platform for final processing and export. The oil is exported through the Grane pipeline to the Sture terminal and the gas is exported via the SAGE system to St. Fergus
