FLL is a world-wide competition for children at the age from 10 to 16 years. The purpose is to encourage children to study technology and science and become tomorrow’s engineers and scientists. In Scandinavia in 2014 865 teams, primarily from schools, participated. Globally more than 265 000 children in 80 countries participated. The competition is run like regional finals and the winners from the finals participate in the Scandinavian final.
This year the regional finals for Oslo and Akershus took place at “Forskningsparken” (The Research Campus) in Oslo on Saturday 7th
November. The regional finals represent the culmination of months of preparations where each team, normally consisting of around 10 children, shall solve challenges within research, technology and cooperation. This year Bayerngas was the sponsor of Bærum Montesorriskole. The school did very well and won the prestigious Technology prize. Unfortunately the team did not win the robot competition since their very advanced technology also made them sensible to minor alterations at the table for the competition. Unfortunately this also made it impossible to win the overall competition.
All in all Bærum Montesorri was happy with their efforts and promised to come back next year with the aim to win the whole competition.
