Cygnus Sentinel has now departed China

Cygnus Sentinel 1
The new build standby vessel «Cygnus Sentinel» has now departed China. The vessel is now en route to Cygnus, having taken on supplies and crew in Malta.

Cygnus Sentinel” was built at the Fujian Southeast Shipyard in China. It has an overall length of 61 meters and beam of 15 meters. Gross tonnage is approximately 1890 tonnes. It has a max speed of 13 knots and service speed of 10 knots.


The Cygnus project is operated by GDF SUEZ (38.75%) with Centrica (48.75%) and Bayerngas UK (12,5%) as a partners. The field will comprise of four offshore platforms with two drill-centres. The development is one of the largest gas projects in the Southern North Sea and, at peak production, is expected to produce enough gas to supply up to 5% of UK homes. The field is expected to come on production late 2015.
