Released

German power gen by fuel
In 2015, renewables contributed to 30% of Germany's power generation

The amount of electricity produced by renewables increased by 20% in 2015, rising to 194 TWh. For comparison, the total Norwegian power generation amounted to 143 TWh in 2015.

German wind generation increased to 86 TWh in 2015, which is the highest amount ever recorded and 50% more than in 2014. Wind energy accounted for 13.3% of German electricity generation last year.

The share of nuclear fell in 2015 as another reactor was shut down as part of the nuclear phase-out. Natural gas continues to be squeezed out of the power sector while coal and lignite retain their market share.
