13 oil companies and a vast number of advanced service companies are located in the Oslo region. The oil industry is the most important industry in Norway and the service industry is second only to petroleum as the biggest export industry in Norway. In spite of this the oil industry receives little attention from politicians in the Oslo region.

This was addressed by managing director Arne Westeng at a seminar with local politicians on Tuesday 24th of April.
Mr. Westeng gave examples of service companies located in Oslo and the surrounding area and said that this region may be more important to the oil industry in the future as more people move to the big cities and technology render closeness to the operations less important.

Mr Westeng hoped that the oil industry would receive more attention from politicians in the Oslo region in the future and promised that the oil companies located in Oslo would continue to inform politicians about ongoing activities.
